Standardized Testing Time!!!

As we all know, the EOC window is rapidly approaching.  I have taught an EOC subject for 5 years.  Though I do believe our students are overtested, I see the value in having a state-wide standardized test in order to make comparisons between districts.

Testing requires lots of organization and planning. Luckily this year, we have a new testing coordinator whose sole job is to plan for testing.  This has allowed us to be more prepared earlier than in past years.  However, our new coordinator also developed these testing plans without any input from teachers or other administrators.  Now, I may be being selfish, but they are displacing me from my classroom for TWO WHOLE WEEKS (!!!!!!) to use my room for testing.  I am trying to be a team player but it is just a big inconvenience.  Now, my students think the year is over and it is like pulling teeth to get them to do ANY work.  I just keep trying to get them to keep their eye on the prize and work work work before our physical science test on Wednesday.

With that being said, I am providing a continental breakfast on Wednesday and writing each kid a little inspirational message in the hopes that it will make them try just a little harder to exceed.  Please pray for my babies to exceed on this test and have an amazing end to the year!!!

  1. Stacie,
I am sorry that you are having to endure being displaced from your classroom. Perhaps after testing, you can offer your testing coordinator some feedback so that they can continue to improve their practice. I know that it is a stressful position to be in.
I will be praying for your babies.

  2. The end of the year can feel like pulling teeth when trying to get scholars to work. I have been removed out of my room but for only one week and it has affected my students. The uncertainty makes them think every day is a free day. Also, having to prepare in a new class each period can be challenging because we know if you are not ready classroom management issues like to appear magically.
